Can I just pick up trash during one of my regular walks?
You can! However, most people find it best to designate a “trash walk” so that you are prepared with gloves, a grabber, trash bag, etc. because it is not always easy to pick up most trash or a regular walk without these supplies.

There are many different options for disposing of the trash you pick up. If you decide to use the yellow bags (provided by the city) you can report your cleanup on the Adopt a Street website and then request that the bags be picked up at a particular location. There are also options to use city parks or SPU trash cans, the SPU litter abatement routes, business dumpsters, etc. Of course, you can take your trash home to dispose of, but please do not leave it in private trash cans. Much more detail is on the INFO page under OPTIONS FOR YOUR TRASH.
